There is NO death!

Death! The very word seems to have the power to invoke fear in the hearts of most people. it is an unavoidable event that we all must face, eventually, but most of us tend to live our lives in a manner that suggests we don’t believe it will ever happen to us.

The average person, goes through life with the attitude that death is something that happens to you when you get so old that the normal cares of this life don’t matter any more and the body just seems to drift off into oblivion and you go to sleep but never wake up.

Well, for starters, I am no expert on these matters, but I have been on this planet, for a while, and have observed many things, enough things that, in my opinion, I am somewhat qualified to comment on them.

The Truth is that death can occur, at any moment, none of us is guaranteed our next breath. Only God has the ability to know our future, and it is by His grace that we are able to take that next breath.

That said, I feel that there is more to all this than meets the eye, and I have had more than a few conversations with God, regarding this topic, and many more, and He has revealed some things to me that might help some people alleviate some of those fears they have about death.

You may have noticed that the title of this post says, “There is NO death!”. In this post, I will be pointing out various Scriptures that will, hopefully, make it clear, that death, as we see it, does not exist, and is nothing to be afraid of. In fact, the very transition, that is referred to as death, should be something to look forward to. Bear with me, it will become clear.

Eph 1:4 (AMP) says,”[in His love] He chose us [actually picked us out for Himself, as His own] in Christ, before the foundation of the world, that we should be Holy (consecrated and set apart for Him) and blameless in His sight, even above reproach, before Him in Love”.

Simply put, this passage tells us that we, each and every one of us, existed in God, before He even began to build the foundation, upon which this planet was situated. In other word, we (YOU) have always existed, in God, and He knew you, and He called you to be here.

I don’t know about you but I am very encouraged to find out that the Creator of the Universe knew me, before anything existed physically, before my parents existed on this planet, and He chose me to be (exist on this physical plane), and He called me to be blameless and above reproach. And you know what? He did the same for you.

So, since we already existed, before we were born on the Earth, how did we get into this body?

Isaiah 44:24 says, “This is what the Lord says—
your Redeemer, who formed you in the womb:

I am the Lord,
the Maker of all things,
who stretches out the Heavens,
who spreads out the Earth by Myself

1 Thessalonians 5:23
May God, Himself, the God of Peace, Sanctify you, through and through. May your whole spirit, soul and body be kept blameless, at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

These passages suggest that we are made up of 3 parts, a spirit, a soul and a body, and that God put us together, inside our mother’s womb.

The Bible tells us that God is a Spirit and that we are made in His likeness and in His image, therefore we are a Spirit. This Spirit is what was referred to, earlier, concerning God knowing us before anything existed. The Truth is that we were in God, from the beginning and, therefore, we have always existed, isn’t that kool?!

When God made Adam, from the dust of the Earth, He breathed Life into him. In other words, the Spirit of Adam, which was in God, was transferred into this body, and became the man, Adam. So Adam now has a body, for his Spirit to dwell in, but what about his soul, where does that come in?

To answer that question, it is important to, first of all, understand what the soul is. The Vines expository dictionary defines the soul as the seat of the sentient element of man. That, by which he perceives, reflects, feels and desires; the seat of will and purpose and of appetite. In other words, your personality, or character, that which makes you individual.

Someone coined a phrase once that says, “Life is God’s gift to you, what you do with it, is your gift to God”. When God breathed Life into a hunk of clay, that He called man, the Spirit of Adam was transferred in, and a new soul was Created.

Some people use the term spirit and soul interchangeably, as if they are one and the same, but the Bible makes it clear that they are both distinctively  separate:

For the Word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.
In this verse, it refers to the heart as being the place where thoughts and attitudes preside, therefore, it stands to reason that the heart and the soul are not the same.
Some people have said that, someone going through mental anguish, concerning a decision they need to make, should follow their heart, because the head, or the mind, tends to confuse things. I believe that, what they mean is, to listen for the voice of the Spirit, which resides in our inner most being, which is sometimes referred to as following our gut.
I know it may seem like semantics, or grasping at straws but, the Truth is that, when we are discussing our Eternal destiny, it is important to word things properly. We told you earlier, in a previous post, that our words have power, especially when referring to matters of Spirit.
For the record, the way we see it,  the soul is comprised of your mind, will, emotions and intellect. And when Scripture talks about the heart, it is referring to the soul, because it makes the same distinction between the Spirit and the heart, as it does between the Spirit and the soul:
Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast Spirit within me.
Here, the psalmist is, clearly, distinguishing the two, as something distinct from one another.
So, to sum this up, the Bible makes it clear that we are spirits, who possess a soul, and live in a body. So, when the Bible talks about redeeming our souls, what is actually happening is… the Spirit, that came from God, to dwell in our bodies, goes back to God when the body stops functioning, and it takes the soul with it.
Near the top of this page, we asked the following question:
So, since we already existed, before we were born on the Earth, how did we get into this body?
Since all of us are descendants of Adam & Eve, at the point of conception, God begins to mold us within our mother’s womb, and breathes our Spirit into this newly forming body. When we are born, we are a Spirit, possessing a soul, and living in a body, but because we are born of the seed of Adam, we are born in sin, and dead to God, Spiritually.
This is why Jesus told us, in John chapter 3, that we must be born again, not physically, but Spiritually, by accepting His sacrifice, and making Him our Savior and our Lord. Once we do that, the Bible declares us to be the righteousness of God and, as such, we are guaranteed everlasting Life in Heaven, seated on His throne.
So, now, we have it. Now, that we realize that this body is only a shell that we live in, until it ceases to function, allowing us to go back home to God, it becomes obvious that we will not, nor can we ever, die. This body may die but we go on to Live forever, HALLELUJAH!!!
So, since you will live forever, the question remains, “Where will you spend Eternity, in Heaven, or in Hell? ASK Jesus to come into your heart, and become your Lord, so that you will be spend Eternity in Heaven.
